As Valentine’s Day (the 15th day of the first lunar month) approaches,the annual Yanshui Beehive Rockets event in Tainan City is set to kick off at the Yanshui Junior High School sports field. Tainan Mayor Lai Qing-de said that this year’s beehive rocket display will surpass previous years. A 12-foot-tall statue of “Guan Yu Riding the Red Hare,” symbolizing the spirit of a dragon and horse, specially created by the Wu Temple, is set to make its debut. There will also be a main fireworks fortress featuring high-tech LED lighting and 400,000 beehive rockets, creating a dazzling spectacle. In addition, over 200 smaller fireworks forts will be scattered throughout the Yanshui area, allowing participants to enjoy the thrilling rocket experience across the town. With complementary events such as the Yuejin Harbor Lantern Festival, Guan Yu Cultural Exhibition, Narcissus Flower Art Creations, and local agricultural and specialty food displays, the 2014 Yanshui Beehive Rockets Festival – rich in technology and culture – is suitable for families and couples alike. Amidst the thrilling atmosphere and stunning sound-and-light effects, it’s sure to bring people closer together, ward off past bad luck, and welcome the joy of the new year.

When participating in the event,make sure to wear thick, long-sleeved cotton clothing, a mask, scarf, gloves, and a full-face safety helmet with protective goggles. Secure the sleeves and pant legs with rubber bands, and avoid wearing flammable nylon clothing. Additionally, spectators should never direct rockets toward pedestrians or shoot them at each other. People with heart disease, high blood pressure, mental illness, asthma, or other related conditions are advised not to participate. The Fire Department stated that all fireworks forts for this event have been inspected to ensure no plastic-headed beehive rockets are included. Only those that pass inspection and are affixed with safety labels will be allowed to be launched. On the day of the event, professional firefighters and medical personnel will also be on-site. Therefore, as long as participants follow the recommended attire, they can enjoy an exhilarating, safe, and unforgettable beehive rocket experience.
Those planning to attend the Yanshui Beehive Rockets event must take proper protective measures. In addition to a full-face safety helmet with goggles, ensure the gap between the helmet and your neck is properly covered with a scarf or similar item to prevent rockets from entering and causing injury. The Wu Temple divine palanquin parade for this year’s Yanshui Beehive Rockets will take place on February 13 and 14 (the 14th and 15th days of the first lunar month). The public can follow the palanquin to personally experience the thrill of the rocket onslaught. Additionally, a centralized firing zone is planned at the Yanshui Junior High School sports field at 9:00 PM on the night of the Lantern Festival, featuring the theme “Dragon Horse Spirit, Success Upon Arrival” main fireworks fortress, which is sure to leave everyone with an unforgettable memory.
