The zoo hands out limited-edition "Little Yuan Zai" Lanterns daily, with a cap of 12,000 per day

The joyful and heartwarming "Taipei Yuan Zai" little lanterns are being distributed starting now until February 14th, from 9:00 AM each day in the square inside the main gate of Taipei City Zoo. The daily limit is 12,000 lanterns, with one per person, while supplies last. In addition, the Taipei City Government has also released a "Taipei Yuan Zai Little Lantern Assembly Demonstration" video, making it easy for both kids and adults to put together these adorable Yuan Zai lanterns.

To commemorate the birth of the giant panda "Yuan Zai," the "2014 Taipei Lantern Festival" has, for the first time this year, designed 93,000 "Taipei Yuan Zai" little lanterns in addition to the zodiac-themed lanterns. These are being handed out at the zoo, the Maokong Gondola Zoo Station, and the entrance plaza of the ShiYuan Ticket Gate at the Water Source Park.

 

The joyful and heartwarming "Taipei Yuan Zai" little lantern features Yuan Zai riding a YouBike, which is especially eye-catching. The wheels can turn, and the bike basket even holds bamboo leaves — the favorite food of giant pandas. Through this little lantern, Yuan Zai’s smile and energy will accompany everyone during the Lantern Festival. The lanterns are being given out daily from now until February 14th, starting at 9:00 AM at the main gate, until 4:00 PM or until they run out.
