Hehuan Mountain sees snowfall for four consecutive days, with maximum snow depth reaching half a meter

A recent cold front has enveloped Taiwan, and Hehuan Mountain has experienced continuous snowfall for four days. The snow accumulation has reached a maximum depth of 50 centimeters, and the section of Provincial Highway 14A from Kunyang (28K) to the Hehuan Mountain Visitor Service Center (33K) is also covered in snow and ice, restricting passage to vehicles equipped with snow chains. Netizens planning to visit Hehuan Mountain this weekend must ensure their vehicles are fitted with snow chains. The Directorate General of Highways, Second Maintenance Office, Puli Section, will also implement road closures daily from 17:00 to 07:00 the next morning on the section from Cuifeng (18K) to Dayuling (41K).

The Hehuan Mountain highway has been interrupted due to heavy snow and ice, marking a rare scale of snowfall in recent years. Since the first snowfall of about 5 centimeters on February 10, the Wuling section of Provincial Highway 14A had accumulated more than 10 centimeters of snow by the 12th, and by today, the snow depth in the Wuling section has reached half a meter. In addition, Yushan began to snow at 8:45 AM yesterday (13th), with snow accumulation reaching 16 centimeters around noon before tapering off and stopping. Snowfall resumed at 9:15 AM today (14th), also stopping around noon, with snow depth reaching 22 centimeters — the thickest accumulation in nearly nine years on Yushan.
