In recent years, domestic cruise travel has gradually gained popularity. The Sun Princess, operated by Carnival Corporation & PLC, will set Hualien as its home port this May, sailing to destinations such as Kobe and Okinawa in Japan. A total of three maiden voyage itineraries from Hualien are being offered, each spanning 9 days and 8 nights. Coinciding with Mother’s Day, travel agencies are also launching special promotions, with prices starting at NT$59,000 per person, and discounted rates from NT$37,900 per person. There is also an early bird offer: those who register 60 days in advance can enjoy a “buy 3 shore excursions, get 1 free” deal.

The Sun Princess, which will embark and disembark passengers in Hualien, will launch three maiden voyage itineraries on May 4, 12, and June 5. Each itinerary is limited to 200 passengers. The ship will depart from Hualien, making stops in Kobe, Amami Oshima, Okinawa, Ishigaki Island, and finally returning to Hualien.

The Sun Princess has a tonnage of 77,000 tons and can accommodate a total of 2,022 passengers. The ship features dining options such as a steakhouse, buffet restaurant, pizza restaurant, and a wine/caviar bar,as well as self-serviceoptions. It also offers entertainment facilities including a casino, fitness center, SPA, stargazing open-air cinema, disco hall, and multiple performance venues, allowing guests to fully enjoy their time at sea.

In addition, the itinerary includes four optional one-day shore excursions: a private car trip from Kobe to visit Kyoto’s Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Arashiyama’s Togetsukyo Bridge, where you can enjoy a yudofu (tofu hot pot) meal; a visit to Amami Oshima, the largest offshore island in Kagoshima Prefecture; a private car transfer to Okinawa’s Shurijo Castle Ruins and Gyokusendo Cave Kingdom Village, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites; and a tour of Ishigaki Island, including a private car ride to Yonekiri Observation Deck, with the option to upgrade and take a glass-bottom boat tour to admire Japan’s top 100 scenic ocean ecology and black pearl farms.

The Sun Princess’ 9-day, 8-night Hualien maiden voyage is available at a special price starting from NT$37,900 per person, with prices covering the train ride on the Taiwan Railway’s Tze-Chiang Limited Express from Taipei or Kaohsiung, as well as round-trip port transfers. Optional one-day shore excursions cost NT$2,500 per person, and those who register 60 days in advance can enjoy a “buy 3, get 1 free” deal.
