The Camellia Retreat, which doesn’t go for the glamorous look, stands out most for its simple and unadorned cottage and the warm, friendly couple who run it. Especially for first-time visitors, the hosts often personally greet them at the station and even hand-draw custom travel maps, hoping guests will feel comfortable staying and have a joyful time exploring.

The hosts built this small retreat not just to create an ideal home, but also to embrace a sense of happiness and share it with others. As a result, the old house has no elaborate decoration—the furnishings are mostly handmade by the husband, and the front yard is planted with Taiwan camellias, loved by both hosts, allowing guests to leave their worries behind and enjoy a happy vacation.
