The dazzling Little Dome showcases the imagery of Alishan with "Song of the Forest" as a photo hotspot

Chiayi City’s iconic public artwork "Song of the Forest," closed for renovation since November 2017, has regained its former glory after over three months of dedicated work by its original creator, artist Wang Wen-chih, and his 20-person team

The entire artwork evokes the imagery of Alishan. Visitors can stand by the windows to observe and listen to the trains of the West Coast Line entering and exiting the city, as well as the bamboo tunnel, imagining the scene of trains passing through tunnels in Alishan. Using materials such as wood, railway tracks, steel, cast bronze, rattan, and stone, the piece offers visitors an immersive natural experience, creating a new landmark for Alishan’s forestry village.

"Song of the Forest" blends the aesthetics of traditional wooden structures with Western classical architecture. Reflecting on various aspects of sculpture, architecture, art, culture, and history, it marks a unique landscape art that embodies Chiayi’s heritage as the hometown of timber, along with its natural forestry and cultural history.
