World’s Largest Aquarium Changes Hands – China’s Chimelong Ocean Kingdom Sets 5 World Records

The “world’s largest aquarium” title held by Singapore’s S.E.A. Aquarium was officially taken over last month. The Guinness World Records website announced last month on its official portal that the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Hengqin New Area, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, People’s Republic of China, has set five world records recognized by the Guinness World Records: the world’s largest aquarium, the world’s largest aquarium tank, the world’s largest acrylic panel, the world’s largest aquarium viewing window, and the world’s largest underwater viewing dome.

 

Among the five world records set by Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, the aquarium claimed the title of the world’s largest aquarium with a total water volume of 48.75 million liters. In addition, its single tank with a water capacity of 22.7 million liters also set the record for the world’s largest aquarium tank. The other three records include the world’s largest acrylic panel, measuring 39.6 meters wide and 8.3 meters high; the world’s largest aquarium viewing window, also 39.6 meters wide and 8.3 meters high; and the world’s largest underwater viewing dome, with a diameter of 12 meters.

 

The Chimelong Ocean Kingdom aquarium houses up to 15,000 fish of various species. The installed acrylic glass also allows visitors to interact with a manta ray with a diameter of 4 meters through the panel.
