The "Fantastic Journey" of the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival to Debut in May

The "2014 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival" will be held from May 3 to June 30 on Fulong Beach. This year, it has invited 30 sand sculptors from 17 countries including the United States, Canada, France, Ireland, Australia, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Russia, the Czech Republic, India, West Africa, Portugal, Bulgaria, Latvia, Singapore, and Taiwan to participate in an international invitational competition. The artists are currently creating their works on Fulong Beach. The theme of this year's event is "A Fantastic Journey," allowing visitors to travel through time and space on the beach. They can journey eastward with Marco Polo along the "Silk Road," accompany Zheng He on his voyages to Africa, return to the 18th century to "Around the World in 80 Days" with the famous French writer, see the "Taipei 101" in modern-day Taiwan, and finally board a "space shuttle" to explore the "Twelve Constellations" in outer space. Each piece of artwork is expected to deliver a stunning visual impact to visitors.

Visitors planning to attend the sand sculpture festival are advised to take TRA trains to Fulong Railway Station, which is about a five-minute walk from the event site. For those driving, the organizers have designated multiple parking areas, such as in front of the Fulong Visitor Center and next to Fulong Elementary School, offering approximately 800 parking spaces. To maintain traffic flow at the venue, it is recommended that visitors park their vehicles at the Taiwan Route 2B, Yanliao Seaside Park, or Taipower Longmen Construction Site parking lots and take the free shuttle bus to the event. The shuttle bus operates on weekends and holidays during the event period, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a frequency of about one bus every 20 minutes (actual intervals may vary depending on traffic conditions).

 

In addition, the "Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Golden Fulong Line" runs hourly on weekdays and every half hour on weekends, taking visitors to nine major attractions in the Northeast Coast (Ruifang Railway Station, Jiufen, Gold Ecological Park, Shuishe Cave, Bitou, Dragon Cave Bay Marine Park, Dragon Cave Four Seasons Bay, Aodi, and Fulong).
