【Stay in a Homestay on Tuesday】Bajiao Residence, Embraced by Greenery and Mountain Shades

Walking along the path and through the forest trail, towering ancient trees suddenly come into view. At this moment, the line from Tao Yuanming’s poem “No through road ahead, yet a village appears beyond dense willows” perfectly captures the essence of Bajiao Residence. The female owner, who graduated with a degree in landscape design, transformed an L-shaped space made up of one rectangular and two square volumes into a pure white building adorned with large floor-to-ceiling windows. Two blue-painted pools and adjacent trees fill the gaps at the turn, blending seamlessly with the main structure.

This place was originally a temporary site for transplanting mature trees. Century-old trees purchased from various locations were first planted here before being relocated once buyers were found. Now, a small section has been developed into a homestay and restaurant, while century-old camphor trees, Formosan red cypresses, kapok trees, Chinese fan palms, and mountain cherries have been preserved to serve as guardians of the homestay. Among them, a 200-year-old Formosan red cedar is hailed as the signature tree. A shallow stream in front of the house channels mountain spring water. Lounging in a chair, you can visually soak in the tranquility of the mountains. The sounds of wind and birds surround you, and the rich ecosystem has even made night herons and squirrels feel at home.
