Miraculous Portal in Huashan: Instantly Transported to Hong Kong, Free Flights Drawn Daily

A magical Doraemon "Anywhere Door" spotted at Huashan Cultural and Creative Park in Taiwan, as part of the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s annual campaign “2014 Hong Kong Fun.” To let people in Taiwan experience the fun of opening a door and being instantly transported to Hong Kong, the board has set up an Anywhere Door on the large lawn of Huashan Cultural and Creative Park from now until May 4, and is giving away free round-trip tickets to Hong Kong every day. Lucky participants who manage to open the door to a delightful surprise can fly to Hong Kong on the spot.

The knocking sound of “knock knock knock” caught the attention of visitors, drawing them in to take a closer look. The pink door not only had a cute design but also felt familiar—as if it were the iconic Anywhere Door from Doraemon. Upon opening it, what you initially saw was the real scenery of Taipei’s Huashan area. But with one switch of the door, the scene instantly transformed into Hong Kong, making viewers feel as though they were right there. Each time the door opened or closed, different scenes appeared. One second you’re wandering through the vibrant POHO district in Central, the next an elderly lady is helping you “beat the evil spirits,” then suddenly you’re in a traditional teahouse with an old woman pushing a cart full of delicious Hong Kong dim sum, or you blink and find yourself on the Star Ferry, gently swaying on the boat. Even more amusingly, locals in Hong Kong greet and chat with you, making it feel like the latest hit time-travel drama—just open or close the door and you’re in Hong Kong. This surprising “Hong Kong Anywhere Door” left visitors amazed, exclaiming how magical it was.

 

This year, the Hong Kong Tourism Board has adopted “2014 Hong Kong Fun” as its promotional theme, encouraging travelers to take the historic Ding Ding tram to leisurely explore different districts across the city at a comfortable pace. Xu Weini, Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s Taiwan Office, said: “Hong Kong is a city full of surprises. Just when you think you know it well, there’s always something new waiting to be discovered. With Hong Kong just an 80-minute flight away from Taiwan, it's a top choice for short getaways. That’s why we used the concept of the ‘Anywhere Door’ to let people feel like they’ve ‘blinked and arrived in Hong Kong,’ and to enjoy the thrill of exploring Hong Kong’s streets both day and night.” The event runs from now until May 4, open weekdays from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and weekends from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with free round-trip Hong Kong flights given away daily.
