The Virgin Mary (played by Roma Downey) gives birth to Jesus (played by Diogo Morgado) in Bethlehem. As he grows up and becomes a carpenter, Jesus begins preaching at the age of 30, spreading the gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven and personally selecting twelve apostles, including Peter (played by Darwin Shaw) and John (played by Sebastian Knapp). Three years later, on the eve of Passover, Jesus travels to Jerusalem and is welcomed by the crowds. But Judas (played by Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson), one of the apostles, is bribed by the Jewish Sanhedrin, who hate Jesus, and betrays him. He is accused of being the “King of the Jews,” sentenced to death, and crucified. However, three days later, Jesus miraculously rises from the dead and reunites with his apostles as the Savior...

Just starting at Columbia University, Ginsberg (played by Daniel Radcliffe) meets his 19-year-old senior, Carl (played by Dane DeHaan). Carl introduces Ginsberg to the wild, chaotic, and decadent nightlife of New York, where they indulge in poetry, alcohol, and cigarettes. Their friendship goes beyond just being pals. Ginsberg isn’t the only one drawn to Carl—another professor at the university, David Kammerer, is also completely infatuated with him. Carl’s wild personality leaves Kammerer both fascinated and disgusted, unable to let go yet increasingly entangled. When Kammerer is found dead in the river one day, Carl becomes the prime suspect.
