The 2014 Taipei Night Market Food Festival promotion kicks off with a bang on June 6 (Friday)! To promote local night market cuisine and culture, and to ensure the public can enjoy food without worrying about food safety issues, this year’s event has specially partnered with the “Taipei City Ingredient Registration Platform.” Through a fun QR code scanning activity, the transparent ingredient tracking mechanism will be introduced, allowing consumers to dine with peace of mind.

The first phase of the campaign is actively seeking consumers whose names sound like or are homophones of ingredients—for example: “简基诞 (Jian Jidan, similar to ‘egg’ or 鸡蛋),” “杨筱徘 (Yang Xiaopai, similar to ‘lamb chops’ or 羊小排),” “梅盛彩 (Mei Shengcai, similar to ‘lettuce’ or 美生菜),” and other amusing ingredient-related names. This fun wordplay is designed to generate buzz and attract more visitors to the night market events. Participants should visit the on-site event booth during the six major night market promotional days, show their ID to prove they have a “delicious ingredient name,” and upon verification, they will receive one “NT$50 night market voucher” for free. (Limit of 10 vouchers per event, while supplies last.)
