Projection mapping has been increasingly widely used on various buildings in recent years, revitalizing the appearance of attractions and extending to nighttime viewing hours, offering visitors a whole new visual experience. This is the first time Tokyo Disneyland has extensively adopted projection mapping technology for a major castle show, titled “Once Upon A Time.” It features imagery from Disney animated princess series such as Alice in Wonderland, with the entire Cinderella Castle serving as the projection canvas. Magical lights and patterns are projected onto the castle on a grand scale, allowing viewers to feel as if they are traveling through a fairy tale world on a time machine amid changing lights and shadows. The 3D projection artistry, paired with melodious music, nighttime aerial fireworks, and laser beams, creates a complementary effect. The 15-minute projection show is sure to bring a dreamy and blissful experience.

This show costs up to 2 billion Japanese yen. In addition to the story of Alice in Wonderland, it also interweaves classic scenes from other Disney animations such as Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella, recreating the gentle and magical spells of the fairy tale world in a dreamlike display of light and shadow. The current showtimes are two performances each evening at 8:50 PM and 9:40 PM. Central seating must be reserved by those holding same-day park admission tickets through a lottery system as planned by Tokyo Disneyland. The showtimes and fireworks display are subject to the daily announcements by Tokyo Disneyland. This summer, head to Tokyo Disneyland to experience the happy and dreamy time of “Once Upon A Time.”
