Hakone Kowakudani Onsen has long been hailed as a hot spring expo, featuring not only attractions like water slides, Turkish baths, and Dead Sea baths, but also an incredibly diverse range of hot spring types—including the latest outdoor options such as red wine, green tea, and coffee baths, with over 30 varieties of open-air baths. Recently, Hakone Kowakudani Onsen has collaborated with Japan’s well-known beverage brand “Afternoon Tea” to launch the “Afternoon Tea Bath,” a hot spring inspired by the signature flavors of Afternoon Tea. Daily tea-infusion shows are held at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, captivating hot spring enthusiasts who love experiencing unique scents and atmospheres. This initiative has quickly become a hot topic.

This event runs from April 1 to July 18. In April, the bath features a classic black tea flavor; in early May, it switches to lemon black tea; and on June 14, it changes to a milk tea flavor, continuing until July 18. Those who have soaked in the tea-infused hot springs say the fragrance is wonderfully aromatic and elegant, creating a serene and healing atmosphere that leaves them feeling thoroughly relaxed and refreshed.

The “Afternoon Tea Bath” is located in the swimsuit-friendly hot spring area “Green Terrace (绿のテラス)” within Hakone Kowakudani Yunessun. The bath is adorned with a teapot labeled “Afternoon Tea,” and the entire soak area is visually themed around the brand—making it a successful marketing collaboration. It’s truly impressive how the Japanese creatively blend tourism and branding with such flair and conversation-starting appeal.
