Snoopy is here！The popular stars make simultaneous appearances in Kaohsiung and Hong Kong

The beloved American Peanuts comic strip, which is about to celebrate its 65th anniversary, features iconic characters that everyone knows well—Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy… and a total of eight main characters—who are rarely seen all together. This summer, the adorable Snoopy will meet fans in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The first-ever officially authorized 【Peanuts: Snoopy 65th Anniversary Exhibition】 kicked off last week at Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, while the world’s tallest Snoopy statue will “land” at Hong Kong Harbour City on July 16.

 

Created by the legendary American cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, Snoopy and the Peanuts comic strip have been published in over 2,600 newspapers across 75 countries since 1950, making it the most widely read and beloved newspaper comic strip in the world. Over the past 65 years, it has captured the hearts of at least 350 million readers globally. To bring even more surprises to the public, the 【Peanuts: Snoopy 65th Anniversary Exhibition】 at Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung not only showcases classic scenes from the comics but also unveils never-before-seen private commentary from the author and rare classic comic strips—offering both depth and entertainment.

During the exhibition period, Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation has arranged themed painted trains on the Red and Orange Lines for the first time. The Red Line train features Snoopy and his friends, while the Orange Line train showcases images of Snoopy and his companions participating in various sports. Both painted trains will run until August 31, the end of the exhibition, in coordination with the “Peanuts: Snoopy 65th Anniversary Exhibition” at Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung this summer.

At the same time, Hong Kong Harbour City will also launch the 【“Dreams Take Flight” Snoopy Art & Lifestyle Exhibition】 on July 16. The exhibition is divided into two parts: the “Dreams Never Fall” Snoopy Time Runway giant art installation and the “Thoughts & Creations” Snoopy calligraphy art and Japanese craft exhibition. From July 16 to August 12, the outdoor plaza of Ocean Terminal at Harbour City will transform into a Snoopy time tunnel, with four sculptures of Snoopy in different eras stretching from the main entrance of Ocean Terminal all the way to the Five Flagpoles, symbolizing Snoopy’s journey from America to Japan and then to Hong Kong. The most eye-catching among them is the world’s tallest Snoopy statue, standing at an impressive 3.3 meters.

The “Thoughts & Creations” Snoopy Calligraphy Art and Japanese Craft Exhibition at Hong Kong Harbour City features works by Etsuteru Ohtani, who skillfully combines Snoopy imagery with traditional brush calligraphy. There are also unique Snoopy creations by artisans from around the world using pottery, ink painting, wood carving, and metal sculpture—such as Japan’s ancient “Mino-yaki” pottery and the iconic Japanese lacquerware “Wajima-nuri.” In addition, the wooden Edo-period carving “Dragon and Snoopy,” part of Charles Schulz’s wife Jean Schulz’s personal collection, will be displayed at the “Harbour City Gallery.” Etsuteru Ohtani himself will visit Hong Kong from July 14 to 20, during which he will use special brushes to create large calligraphy pieces on-site at Harbour City, including designs featuring a “dragon” and a “sailboat” that represent a “Hong Kong-themed” Snoopy. This summer, go to Hong Kong and meet a truly unique Snoopy.
