In recent years, Pingxi has become a well-known must-visit attraction in Taiwan. In addition to sky lantern releases, Pingxi has also received widespread acclaim since the launch of the "Sky Lantern Police Station" in March this year, attracting many tourists who visit specifically and share photos online, drawing even more visitors to Pingxi for travel. To encourage seniors to experience the innovative "Policeman Sky Lantern" release combined with technology, the New Taipei City Government’s Tourism and Travel Bureau has specially collaborated with the Pingxi Charisma Business Circle to launch a half-price discount every Tuesday, the "Senior Day," starting from July. Grandpas and grandmas are welcome to come and "happily release sky lanterns and joyfully explore Pingxi."

The Sky Lantern Police Station, located at the entrance of Jing Tong Old Street in Pingxi District, is the Pingxi sub-station of the Ruifang Branch of the New Taipei City Police Department. It combines functions such as public safety maintenance, tourism consultation, scenic viewing, bicycle station services, light meals, and public restrooms, forming a unique, world-first, composite tourist sub-station. Romantically launched on White Day, March 14, 2014, its distinctive design has quickly become a new landmark in the Jing Tong area. The nearly 9-meter-high sky lantern-shaped curtain made up of 200,000 LED lights is highly eye-catching, often attracting passersby to stop and take photos.

The Pingxi Charisma Business Circle Association stated that following the "Buy One Get One Free" Policeman Sky Lantern event in June, held in honor of Police Day and warmly received by tourists, an exclusive senior citizen discount will be launched starting July. With the summer travel season in full swing and coinciding with the New Taipei City Government’s push for weekly “Senior Days” every Tuesday, they hope seniors can visit Pingxi with or accompanied by their families to enjoy the beautiful mountains, waters, and rich cultural charm. Therefore, in special collaboration with the New Taipei City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau, they have introduced an exclusive Policeman Sky Lantern Pavilion (Sky Lantern Police Station) discount. From now until December 31, 2014, every Tuesday "Senior Day," seniors aged 60 and above can enjoy a 50% discount on Policeman Sky Lantern releases (original price NT$150 per lantern) by presenting identification. Grandpas and grandmas are welcome to make unique Policeman Sky Lanterns with their partners or bring their beloved grandchildren to Pingxi for fun and family bonding.

The mining nostalgia-filled mountain town of Pingxi, with the Pingxi branch railway line running throughout the region, is a must-see for railway enthusiasts. Along the Pingxi railway branch line, you can enjoy the ever-changing mountain town scenery across the seasons. The scene of trains passing right by the shops on Shifen Old Street and the sky lanterns filled with wishes are sources of happiness for travelers. Shifen Waterfall and Eyeglass Cave Waterfall offer an immersion in nature's phytoncides, invigorating both body and mind. Throughout Jing Tong Old Street, bamboo sticks inscribed with wishes are commonly seen. Behind Jing Tong Station, the "Lover’s Bridge" is adorned with bamboo sticks filled with love messages from couples, offering a romantic vibe comparable to the love lock wall beneath Seoul Tower in the Korean drama "My Love from the Star" and the world-famous love lock bridge over Paris’s Seine River.
