Taipingshan was once a hub of forestry, with many forest railways built around the mountains to transport timber. The Jianqing Nostalgia Trail is a remnant of this logging history. Compared to other forest railways and cable cars from the same era, most have long been buried in the mountains over time. The preservation of the Jianqing Nostalgia Railway is like a time capsule, allowing today’s travelers to recall the prosperity of Taipingshan’s forestry industry. Of course, it also serves as a memorial, prompting us to reflect on the impact of forestry development.

Nowadays, forest resource development is different from the past, with policies focusing more on ecological conservation. The Jianqing Nostalgia Trail has become a living textbook, teaching us to learn from the past for the future.

The Jianqing Nostalgia Trail is 2.35 kilometers long, but currently only 0.9 kilometers are open. The trail is built from part of the old Taipingshan Jianqing timber transport railway line. It begins with a gravel path paved with long stretches of railway tracks. The area retains remnants of the old timber transport tracks, hence the name “Nostalgia.” “Jianqing” refers to the view here where you can see both the sea of clouds undulating below and the Lanyang Plain transitioning from rain to sunshine.

 

Walking along the Jianqing Nostalgia Trail, follow the historic forest railway that once transported timber. On sunny days, gaze at the majestic view of Mount Dabajian in the distance, and when the weather turns cloudy, enjoy the sea of clouds while soaking in the harmony of nature and human history.
