Visiting the Pipe House camping area in Donghe Township, a surfing hotspot in Taiwan, you’ll see 15 large concrete pipes lined up in a row — quite a sight. It’s hard to imagine that each of these pipes is actually a cozy, clean double room. Staying in one “pipe” costs only around NT$1,000, which is a great deal, attracting many backpackers and small families who enjoy camping.

The pipe houses are a cross between tents and guesthouses. Each pipe is a room, and every room is equipped with air conditioning and a comfortable independent pocket spring bed. Though there’s no TV and the facilities aren’t as luxurious as a hotel, the simple and cozy environment is captivating. It’s just a 300-meter walk to the beach, making it perfect for visitors who love water activities and surfing. There’s also the beautiful Dulan Mountain Range — just sit in front of your pipe house and enjoy the stunning mountain and sea views, the ultimate treat.
