You may have visited a five-star hotel toilet, but have you ever been to a five-star temple toilet? Located in Beigang, Yunlin, the highly popular God of Wealth ancestral temple—Beigang Wude Temple—has specially invested 50 million Taiwan dollars to rebuild its facilities as the original toilets could no longer handle the large number of worshippers. The new restroom featuresan “Endless Knot” design, and its most distinctive element is the nighttime lighting that transforms the space into a magnificent palace, which netizens have praised as another beautiful “main lantern”!

▲ Each side of the toilet is equipped with a light box containing a scroll axis, allowing different content to be displayed at scheduled times, making it an excellent exhibition space that leaves no resource wasted.

Covering an area of over 200 ping, the Wude Temple toilet was jointly designed by renowned architects Hsu Jen-feng and Lai Wen-yan. Its exterior combines architectural aesthetics with lighting design, and its interior boasts a high-ceilinged, spacious feel, making it truly unique. Especially at night, the lighting design outlines a warm and auspicious Endless Knot symbol on the rooftop against the night sky, making the entire structure resemble a beautiful colored lantern.
