Carry on the charm of the Yellow Duckling！Hoffman’s “Moon Rabbit” to celebrate Mid-Autumn together

The Dayuan Naval Base, in operation since the Japanese colonial era, has a 70-year history. Its facilities include a 3.6-kilometer runway, aircraft bunkers, and hangars, making it one of the most important air force bases in northern Taiwan during Japanese rule. This year’s Taoyuan Land Art Festival aims to use art as a medium to integrate the unique historical and spatial elements of the area, showcasing the distinctive charm that comes from combining art with local heritage. By selecting the Dayuan Naval Base as the exhibition venue, the festival seeks to revive its significant historical importance since the Japanese colonial period, and to repurpose the site’s runway, bunkers, and hangars as artistic exhibition spaces. This offers the public a fresh and fascinating way to explore this formerly off-limits and mysterious naval base.

 

Highlights of the event include the “Bubble Day” on September 6th featuring outdoor large-scale bubble performances; the “Painted Cloud Walk Vehicle” on September 8th with two sessions at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM — those interested can sign up online to form teams; the “Sharpshooters’ Day” on September 8th, located around the naval base runway, offering fun shooting games that test participants’ accuracy with knives, bayonets, and bows; and on September 13th at 2:00 PM, the “Airport’s Hundred Ways of Play,” a joyful parade themed around the Black Cat Squadron, airplanes, or aviation, where participants design and showcase their own costumes and bicycle outfits. It’s definitely something to look forward to！There will also be 80 painted black cat figures appearing at the exhibition — another must-see attraction！
