Located in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park in Bo Trach and Minh Hóa districts, Quảng Bình Province, Vietnam, Son Doong Cave is about 500 kilometers south of Hanoi. It is the largest known single cave passage in the world, stretching over 5.5 miles (approximately 8,880 meters) in length and often referred to as a cave corridor. Its vast space could even fit a 40-story skyscraper and a Boeing passenger plane. The park is home to a total of 150 caves, but only a few are open to visitors.

Son Doong Cave is filled with astonishingly massive natural stalagmites, even leaving seasoned explorers in awe. Inside the cave, there are also rare stalagmite terraces with a height difference of up to 50 meters. Experts believe that Son Doong Cave was formed when rainwater seeped through limestone layers, gradually dissolving and accumulating over time. Underground rivers were created, and with increasing water flow, they carved out this immense cave. The terrain here is truly unique — aside from common cave features, it also houses streams, jungles, lava formations, and moss. With occasional rays of sunlight streaming in, it feels like a hidden paradise beneath the earth.
