Located in Alishan Township, Chiayi County, it is a tribe primarily composed of the indigenous Tsou people. The ancestors also migrated here from the larger Tefuye community while hunting. This place was named (pnguu), which means deep pool, surrounded by layers of mountains. It is a beautiful village located beneath Mount Tashan. The natural environment of Laiji is unique due to its location at the foot of the towering Mount Tashan, with great elevation variations within the tribe ranging from 850 to 1200 meters. There are many valleys formed by streams and numerous large and small waterfalls, resulting in rich ecological resources.

Laiji is known as the eternal tribe under Mount Tashan. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but it has also nurtured many people with craftsmanship talent. Carvings of wild boars can be seen all over Laiji, earning it the title of “Craft Village of Wild Boars.”
