Recently, the tourism industry’s most adorable spokesperson, “Chief Oh Bear,” visited two featured eateries of the “2014 Good Fortune Comes with Every Bite—Travel Around Taiwan” campaign—Yuanlin Braised Pork Rice in Taichung and Pisces Squared—to serve as an honorary store manager for the day.

The “2014 Good Fortune Comes with Every Bite—Travel Around Taiwan” campaign is different from traditional food expos. Chief Oh Bear personally visited standout food establishments across Taiwan, offering the public an up-close and interactive experience. Braised pork rice has always been Chief Oh Bear’s favorite Taiwanese dish. For this event, he specially recommended Yuanlin Braised Pork Rice, which combines Western-style rosemary with the classic Taiwanese snack. The dish insists on using handcrafted Yongchun dark soy sauce and is topped with hand-stir-fried fish floss from Tainan and fresh cucumber slices. The result is a savory, sweet, umami-packed flavor that cuts through greasiness, preserving the old-school taste passed down through generations. Even Oh Bear, who has sampled braised pork rice all over Taiwan, could not stop praising it!

Pisces Squared, on the other hand, has made a name for itself in the American burger scene with its homemade oversized signature burgers. On the day Chief Oh Bear served as honorary manager, the shop specially prepared the “Giant Oh Bear Burger,” allowing the public to DIY the burger together with Oh Bear. The finished product bore an uncannily cute resemblance to Oh Bear, making it hard to take a bite. Oh Bear’s appearance also came as a delightful surprise to many, with crowds rushing to take photos with him.

In addition to serving as an honorary store manager, Oh Bear also visited Taichung’s new cultural and natural landmark—Caotun Road’s Artistic Heart (ESLITE Spectrum Green Boulevard)—making a flash appearance in the city to enjoy a touch of greenery in an urban setting!

The Taichung City Government specially invited an international design team to create a nearly 4-kilometer-long green promenade inspired by Omotesando.
