Can you imagine a history museum breaking free from its dull, boring image to become a place that’s both educational and fun? Located in Annan District, Tainan City, the 20-hectare National Museum of Taiwan History is a “Taiwan History Park” that blends culture and nature, aiming to help visitors learn about Taiwan’s history and appreciate its local beauty while strolling around leisurely.

Before entering the museum, the first thing that catches your eye is one of its highlights—the “photovoltaic cloud wall,” made up of 1,350 solar panels. It symbolizes the vast skies that early settlers crossed when coming to Taiwan and also serves as an eco-friendly power source for the museum. Behind it, there’s a staircase that lets you get a closer look at its geometric beauty.

The National Museum of Taiwan History is the first large-scale national museum in Taiwan to be designed by a local design firm. It is mainly divided into the Administrative and Collection Building and the Exhibition and Education Building. The second floor of the Exhibition and Education Building houses the permanent exhibition, which is arranged along a timeline into different historical spaces, all connected into a cohesive display area to help visitors better understand the timeline of Taiwan’s history.
