The Songshan Line is opening soon—five lines now linked for a 15-minute trip from Raohe to Ximen

The Taipei Metro Songshan Line will undergo its preliminary inspection this Sunday (October 5),and is expected to open as early as late November.After the Songshan Line opens, the Taipei Metro network will, in accordance with the Executive Yuan-approved plan, connect with the Green Line’s Xindian Line, operating under the “Songshan–Xindian” and “Xiangshan–Tamsui” service models. The five metro lines within the network will function independently without interference.

With the Songshan Line’s opening, Taipei’s metro network becomes a series of interconnected L-shaped routes. The number of transfer stations increases from nine to twelve. Except for the need to transfer twice between the Zhonghe–Xinlu and Wenhu Lines, passengers can reach their destinations with just one transfer on other lines. More transfer options allow travelers to plan routes more flexibly based on their needs. Each line has dedicated platforms, eliminating concerns about boarding the wrong train—especially as increased transfer points enable easy access across the network while effectively dispersing crowds.

The Songshan Line spans 8.5 kilometers with eight underground stations: Ximen, Beimen, Zhongshan, Songjiang Nanjing, Nanjing Fuxing, Taipei Arena, Nanjing Sanmin, and Songshan.The entire journey takes about 15 minutes. Once open, travelers can reach Raohe Night Market from Ximending in just 15 minutes.

Additionally, Songshan Station connects to Taipei Railway Station via an underground passage, while Beimen Station will future-link to the Airport MRT’s Taipei City Hall Station. With multiple transfer points along the Songshan Line, reaching destinations becomes faster and more convenient. Taipei Metro officially enters the era of “five seamless lines and effortless multi-point transfers.”
