The Dadaocheng area still retains many traces of old Taipei in its streetscapes and buildings, where the glory of the past has faded with time. Bao’an Street, locally known as the “old market,” was the most densely populated area among Taipei’s districts during the Japanese colonial period. At that time, many private clinics and pharmacies operated on this small street, earning it the nickname “Doctors’ Street,” making it the most important Western medicine hub in early Dadaocheng.

And the classic-style Bao’an 84 is located within Surtern Surgical Hospital. Originally a two-story wooden building, its current appearance is the result of being renovated with concrete and expanded to three floors. Looking in from the outside, the soft yellow lighting and wooden decor create a reassuringly tranquil and cozy atmosphere.
