Spend a night in a prison！ The Dutch prison, established in 1862, was officially closed in mid-2007 and taken over by the VAN DER VALK hospitality group. The old prison was renovated into a four-star luxury hotel called Het Arresthuis. This Hotel Het Arresthuis, located in Roermond, the Netherlands (near the German border), still retains the characteristics of a prison both in its exterior and interior layout!

The lazy lavender lighting, comfortable sofas, and elegant white chandeliers make it so cozy that you won’t want to leave — it’s hard to imagine this place was once a full-fledged prison. This 19th-century prison in the Netherlands originally had 150 cells, which have now been transformed into 36 comfortable guest rooms and seven luxurious suites. Each room has titles such as Warden’s Room, Guard Room, Judge’s Room, and Lawyer’s Room. The rooms come with double beds, showers, air conditioning, individual coffee machines, and free WiFi. While you don’t need to commit a crime to stay at the prison hotel, the cost isn’t cheap — a standard room costs 138 euros per night, about 5,500 New Taiwan Dollars.

Even the toilet doors retain the look of old cell doors. This prison in the area was built in 1863, closed in 2007, and converted into a hotel. It has a history of 150 years.
