Melissa said she was simply taking photos of the clouds out the window, but later, when she looked at the pictures on her camera, she realized she had photographed a rainbow that spread like a giant carpet beneath the clouds, vibrant and dreamlike.

She said, “Although I couldn’t see it directly with my eyes, when I looked at the photo, I was stunned for a moment. At first, I thought it might have been caused by glare or the jet vapor from the plane. I’ve never had an experience like this before, and probably never will again.”
