The Houtong Cat Village Unveils Its New Look with a Highlight Opening of the Cat Information Station!

Houtong, a mountain town once selected by CNN as one of the world's six best cat-viewing spots, is not only one of Taiwan’s most popular tourist destinations, but also home to the country’s first cat-friendly pedestrian bridge. This station's overpass beautification project was even honored with the 13th Public Construction Golden Quality Award. To allow more visitors to experience Houtong’s charm and promote proper animal protection education, the New Taipei City Government spent nearly four months renovating an old TRA dormitory into a Cat Information Station. The goal is for visitors to not only see and enjoy the Houtong Cat Village but also gain correct knowledge about animal welfare.

The Cat Information Station serves as a platform for cats to rest and drink, as well as to promote proper animal protection concepts.
To educate the many visitors to Houtong on the proper conservation practices for feeding cats and to revitalize underused spaces,the old TRA dormitory in the Cat Village has been specially renovated into a Cat Information Station.Volunteers from the Animal Protection Office will be stationed there to provide related animal protection education and outreach.

Colorful murals, piano stairs, and Q-style cat family figurines
To encourage visitors to explore deeper into the Cat Village and beautify the overall environment, illustrators were specially invited to design colorful cat murals and piano stairs. What were once ordinary, unremarkable walls and steps have now transformed into large-scale cat-themed installations that are incredibly eye-catching. Speaking of the village’s new highlights, don’t miss the cat family figurines designed by illustrator Cat Little P — namely the five super-popular characters: Big White, Little Flower, Duoduo, Little Tiger Girl, and Big Treasure. These figures are placed at various spots around the Cat Village, allowing visitors to embark on an in-depth exploration by finding them all.
