This survey is based on real accommodation review scores filled out by international Agoda.com guests after checkout, showing that accommodation quality varies greatly across popular global destinations. Cape Town in South Africa topped the list of global tourist attractions* with an impressive average score of 8.43, earning its reputation as a top honeymoon destination. The Maldives, beloved for honeymoons, closely followed with 8.33 points—just 0.1 point behind. Zermatt, a ski resort in the Swiss Alps, came in third with an average score of 8.29. And Taiwan didn’t disappoint either,with Hualien standing out with 8.03 points, claiming the 3rd spot in Asia!

Hualien’s beauty is evident to all, and even international travelers have fallen for it. Hungarian visitors, in particular, were deeply enchanted by Hualien’s breathtaking scenery and accommodation experience, giving it a high score of 8.24. Mainland Chinese travelers also seem to love it, awarding it 8.09 points, above the overall average. However, Taiwanese travelers might be a bit more critical of their own, giving Hualien’s accommodations 7.83 points—0.2 points lower than the overall score.

Interestingly, high-end and luxurious accommodations aren’t necessarily required to earn high scores. The Maldives and Zermatt, which took second and third place, are known for their premium hotels and resorts. But in the list of the top 25 global destinations with the best accommodations as chosen by Agoda.com travelers, many cities stood out by offering affordable, high-value accommodations.
Take Cape Town, the top-ranked destination, for example. Some of the highly rated accommodations are actually budget-friendly homestays and small boutique hotels. In Budapest, Hungary, due to relatively low prices in Eastern Europe, travelers can stay in satisfyingly good hotels for less than NT$3,000, enjoying Europe’s breathtaking scenery without breaking the bank. Hoi An, Vietnam, the Asian champion, is even more famous for its abundance of small, affordable homestays where travelers can enjoy unforgettable journeys without spending much.
