Humans have always tried to explore the unknown, to fathom the true face of the world, to prove our existence, or to fulfill their boundless curiosity through one science fiction film after another. But in reality, there is truly such a place that closely resembles our imagination, allowing us to personally venture into its depths. Located underground in Romania, the Salina Turda Museum was once an ancient salt mine, and its exquisite architectural craftsmanship may exceed our expectations.

In the past, aside from being a salt mine, it was also used as an air-raid shelter or storage room during World War I. It wasn’t until 1992 that the abandoned mine was truly transformed into a tourist attraction. The renovated museum allows visitors from around the world to venture deep into the Earth and experience this astonishing underground world firsthand. Surprisingly, there are no villages or terrifying monsters here—what awaits visitors are a circular open-air theater, an amusement park, and even a small Ferris wheel.
