The series of events “2014 White Christmas & Sunset Watching,” hosted by the Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan Management Office, kicked off on November 13th this year. This year features the uniquely designed “White Wish (Salt) Tree—Everyone Builds Goodwill” white Christmas tree, which will light up the “Hope Light” of Beimenyu through this event. The white Christmas activities this time are sponsored by corporate goodwill donations of 45 white Christmas trees and the main “White Wish” white Christmas tree, in line with the theme of the event—“Caring and Gratitude.” In addition, this event specially invited outstanding local entrepreneurs to return home to light up the tree together, using this as an opportunity to teach students the Christmas spirit of gratitude and giving.

The lighting ceremony of the “White Wish” white Christmas tree began at 1 PM on the 13th. A total of 500 students from 7 schools in Beimen came to the Christmas Square of the Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan Management Office to hang their own “Christmas Hope & Gratitude Cards.” At 5 PM, Zheng Rong [partial character] and others from the Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan Management Office held a ceremony together with students to officially launch the heartwarming “2014 White Christmas & Sunset Watching Series – Public Welfare Giving Warmth” event!

The Yunlin Management Office stated that this year’s Christmas will specially transform Beimen into a Christmas town, hoping visitors will have an immersive experience. Through this event hosted by the Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan Management Office, themed around “Caring and Gratitude,” there is currently a shortfall of NT$1.2 million in after-school tutoring funds for primary and secondary school students in the Beimen District. It is hoped that more social enterprises and kind-hearted individuals will pay attention to the academic tutoring of these children, lighting up the hope of learning for the students, and extending caring arms to become a support for their studies.

The “2014 White Christmas & Sunset Watching” runs from November 13th to December 31st in Beimen. During the event period, 800 Christmas Hope Cards are available for the public to collect at Jingzijiao, the Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan Co-Creation Center, and the Beimen Visitor Center.
