With the expansion of duty-free shopping in Japan and preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics driving increased tourism, the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation has partnered with service providers.A total of 143 Tokyo Metropolitan and Tokyo Metro stations have installed wireless Wi-Fi for both domestic and international travelers.Whether you're using an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, all you need to do is download the app,“Japan Connected-free Wi-Fi”register, and you can use the free Wi-Fi unlimited times—with each session lasting up to three hours.

Additionally,the “Haruka limited express”operated by JR West, known for its convenience and speed between Kansai International Airport and the Kyoto-Osaka region, is highly recommended by many Taiwanese travelers. Starting December, free Wi-Fi will be offered on Haruka trains, with plans to equip all 63 Haruka trains with free wireless hotspots by July 2015.

Travelers can pick up Wi-Fi passwords in advance at the Customer Service Center on the 1st floor of Terminal 1 at Kansai Airport, the Mio Service Counter in Tennoji, and the STATION CITY service counters at Kyoto and Osaka Stations. Once aboard a“JR-WEST_FREE_Wi-Fi”marked Haruka train, simply select “WEST_FREE_Wi-Fi” on your mobile device or tablet, enter the password, and you’re connected. The login screen is available in four languages—Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean—for the convenience of non-Japanese speakers.
