Lushan Three Stars Flower Sea Carnival – Hot Air Balloons Join the New Year Celebration

The "2015 Flower Sea & Balloon Carnival" hosted by the Sanxing Township Office in Yilan County kicked off colorfully on December 26th. Visitors can enjoy vast golden-yellow flower seas all the way up to the Spring Festival.

The Sanxing Township Office has converted idle farmland throughout the township into a stunning expanse of golden-yellow cosmos flowers covering a total area of 150 hectares, giving the land a vibrant new look. To create the “2015 Flower Sea & Balloon Carnival,” they have also organized a hot air balloon event featuring two giant 8-meter-tall balloons and six smaller ones standing at 3.5 meters high, presenting a dazzling and colorful celebration on the land.

The first phase of the flower sea is expected to bloom on the 26th, covering an area of about 120 hectares. The blooming period lasts for 2 to 3 weeks, continuing until mid-January. The second phase of the flower sea is scheduled to blossom during the Lunar New Year holiday, also lasting for 2 to 3 weeks (ending after the 2015 Lantern Festival). At that time, it will coincide with the Longpi Lake cherry blossom viewing season in the township, where pink cherry blossoms and golden-yellow flower seas will complement each other, creating a grand floral spectacle.
