As the Lunar New Year holiday draws near, many Taiwanese tourists like to use the break to celebrate the holidays in Japan. Located not far from Tokyo, Tochigi Prefecture hosts the annual “Spring Festival” event in the Nikko and Kinugawa areas, offering perks such as free admission to popular theme parks, complimentary shuttle buses, free hot spring bathing, and discounted entry to tourist attractions—all aimed at making Taiwanese visitors feel the local hospitality and enjoy a joyful Lunar New Year celebration.

The 2015 Nikko & Kinugawa “Spring Festival” ran from February 10 through February 28. During the event period, local hotels and inns specially served traditional Japanese New Year dishes such as sake and ozoni, allowing Taiwanese visitors to experience the festive atmosphere of Japanese New Year. Free hot spring bathing services were also provided. Guests staying at affiliated hotels in the Nikko and Kinugawa onsen areas received complimentary bath salts.

During the “Spring Festival,” two major local theme parks also offered free admission:
● “Tobu World Square” was open for free on February 18 (Wed) and February 20 (Fri)
This well-known miniature park recreates world-famous buildings and landmarks at a 1/25 scale, showcasing 102 famous structures from 21 countries. Among them, 45 have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. During this period, visitors could also enjoy the winter light-up event. Structures and sites such as Tokyo Skytree, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and Milan Cathedral—displayed for the first time in the park—along with various landscapes, were illuminated by 1.4 million LED lights, creating a magical and dreamy spectacle.
