Plum blossoms in Tucheng are in full bloom — now’s the perfect time to enjoy them on the Taiji Ridge Cherry Blossom Trail

Delicate pink cherry blossoms bloom in a romantic display. Nine years ago, the Tucheng District Office planted several cherry blossom trees within Tung Blossom Park, and enthusiastic volunteers have since started planting more around the park’s perimeter. This has brought cherry blossoms both inside and outside the park. After arriving at Tung Blossom Park via Chengtian Road in Tucheng, the lush green paths of the park are now accented with vibrant red cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms near Lion Pavilion outside the park have also begun to bloom. Currently, about 50% of the park’s cherry blossoms are in bloom, with full bloom expected by the weekend.

The Tucheng District Office stated that Tung Blossom Park, completed in 2004, covers an area of about 7 hectares. Located on the mountainside of Tian Shan, the highest peak in Tucheng, it connects various mountain trails and boasts diverse natural landscapes and rich ecology. The park also features various observation decks and exhibition areas. Every weekend, the Natural Landscape Association holds ecological interpretation sessions at the pavilion inside the park, which are well-loved by visitors. However, Tung Blossom Park has always been famous for its tung blossoms, so many people are pleasantly surprised to discover that cherry blossoms can also be enjoyed here.

In addition to Tung Blossom Park, the renowned “Cherry Blossom Trail” on Taiji Ridge in Tucheng greets visitors with nearly 100 cherry blossom trees lining the path. About 50% of the blossoms are currently open, with full bloom expected in about one to two weeks. Taiji Ridge serves as a midpoint between the Taiji Ridge and Wuchengshan trails in Tucheng. It takes about 35 minutes to reach on foot from the trailhead at No. 68 Shimen Road, or just 15 minutes from Zhongshan Lake. It’s ideal for hiking and exercise, and many hikers choose to take a short break here before continuing their journey. This cherry blossom trail has been gradually developed over the past 18 years by a group of dedicated mountain volunteers who planted cherry trees during their leisure time to beautify the ridge. The local district office also provided saplings to support the planting efforts, and to date, over 100 cherry trees have been planted.
