Totoro Keeps You Company While You Wait for the Bus – Take a Light Travel Journey on the Tainan Bus

Shilin Village in Dajia District is a newly emerging painted village in the Tainan area. The theme of the paintings features the famous cartoon character “Totoro” holding an umbrella while waiting for the bus, along with other well-known characters such as Yuan Zai, Peter Rabbit, Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Doraemon. There are also LINE’s popular Brown Bear and Cony, beloved by today’s “Wan Jun.” Thanks to the warm greetings from friendly residents, the area is filled with rural warmth. The scope of the painted village is gradually expanding, so visitors can still see volunteers painting new artwork on the red-brick walls, adding even more vibrant colors to Shilin Village.

To visit Dajia Village and find the Totoro bus stop, you can go to a small alley about 100 meters next to the “Shizilai” stop on the Orange 1 and Orange 2 branch lines of the Tainan bus system. Villagers have put up a “Dajia Totoro Bus Stop” sign on the utility pole at the entrance of the alley – just follow the signs to get there. Director Zhang Zhengyuan stated that besides the Orange 1 and Orange 2 branch lines, people can also take the Orange Trunk Line bus and get off at the “Dajia District Office” stop, then walk about 600 meters to reach the destination. Alternatively, you can plan to take the Orange 2 branch line and visit Hucuoliao’s “Grandma’s Painted Village” along the way, turning it into a light bus-travel journey through a painted village.
