Hundreds of flowers bloom during the Yangmingshan Flower Festival, with cherry blossoms, daffodils, and camellias vying in beauty

The Yangmingshan Flower Festival begins on February 7th, and the most anticipated cherry blossoms are now in their prime blooming period. The 8,000 daffodils in the Lakeside Green Space Daffodil Area are also highly eye-catching, with their sea of white blooms and delicate fragrance attracting large numbers of flower-viewing visitors. Coinciding with the 228 Holiday, it provides visitors with an excellent springtime destination for flower appreciation.

Among the annual Yangmingshan Flower Festival, which is highly anticipated by visitors, the pale pink and elegant Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms in front of the visitor center attract the most attention, with the best viewing period from late February to early March. The Showa cherry blossoms around the fountain also make a lovely pink debut, prompting visitors to eagerly capture beautiful photos of the blossoms. A total of 3,200 cherry trees await visitors along the path from the entrance to the Flower Clock and throughout the park. Near the Yangmingshan Yangde Boulevard, beside the gas station of Chinese Culture University, the Floral Experiment Center sees beautiful blooms of camellias and 80 Showa cherry trees. The pale pink Hirado azaleas are also shyly making their appearance, making it a highly worthwhile visit.

Due to the sharp increase in visitors heading up Yangmingshan to enjoy the flowers during the Flower Festival, traffic control measures have been implemented around the area, with adjustments to control times and areas flexibly based on traffic conditions in the Yangmingshan region:

1. Uphill Control Point (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, excluding private cars (and trucks) with permits): “Yangde Boulevard and Zhicheng Intersection.”

2. Downhill Control Point (2:00 PM to 6:00 PM): “Yangming Road and Zhongheng Street Intersection.”

3. Flexible Control Points: Four locations including “Gezhi Road and Jing Mountain Intersection,” “Yangming Road and Xinyuan Street Intersection,” “Xingyi Road and Quanyuan Intersection,” and “Zhi Shan Road Section 3, Lane 71.”

During the 228 Holiday period until March 1st, and on March 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th, the uphill control hours are extended from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with control points at Fuxing Bridgehead and Zhi Shan Road Section 2, Lane 1. The downhill control hours are from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the control point at Yangming Road Section 1, Lane 43.The Taipei City Police Department specifically reminds flower-viewing visitors that due to limited parking space on the mountain, to avoid parking inconvenience or traffic congestion that could dampen the enjoyment of the trip, the public is urged to use public transportation as much as possible. Festival shuttle buses can be boarded at Taipei Main Station, Taipei Metro Jiantan Station, Shilin Station, Shipai Station, and Beitou Station.

It’s particularly worth mentioning that the Taipei City Government’s Department of Parks and Recreation has, for the first time, opened up Yangmingshan Park for “Flower Viewing Picnics,” allowing flower enthusiasts from around the world to enjoy the pleasure of a relaxed picnic amid an internationally recognized ecological environment.
