The Jiaming Lake National Trail, known as the "Angel’s Tears," has reopened in April after more than three months of closure and renovation. The Taiwan Forestry Bureau, Taitung Office, stated that reopening will also involve daily visitor caps and a new fee system!

With the increasing number of visitors to the Jiaming Lake National Trail, multiple sections have suffered from erosion and exposure, and some mountain hut facilities have also been damaged. Therefore, the Taiwan Forestry Bureau, Taitung Office, closed the trail on December 10, 2014, to improve trail conditions and upgrade mountain hut facilities to provide a more comfortable hiking and resting environment. After three months,it will finally reopen on April 1, 2015,with access controlled based on accommodation capacity and a new mountain hut fee system. Originally, the daily limit was set at 176 entrants, but as the Jiaming Lake mountain huts and campsite have not yet been fully prepared,the current daily application cap is 140 people (70 each for Xiangyang Mountain Hut and Jiaming Lake Mountain Hut). Additionally, the mountain hut fees are NT$300 per person on weekdays and NT$400 per person on weekends and holidays.

Additionally, the Taiwan Forestry Bureau, Taitung Office, reminds the public that entry to the Jiaming Lake National Trail requires an entry permit, a confirmed mountain hut reservation list, and a photo ID for verification by on-site staff. Hikers should also plan and prepare adequately before the trip, follow the “Leave No Trace” principles during activities, and jointly protect mountain resources so that the Jiaming Lake trail and ecosystem can be sustainably maintained.

◎ Accommodation Application Period:
Applications can be made 45 to 8 days before the intended accommodation date. For mountain hut reservations on or after April 1, 2015,applications will open online104starting at 12:00 noon onMarch 10of this year,with a lottery for beds from April 1to April 9held at 3:00 p.m. on the same day. ◎ Daily Applicant Limit:
The original plan allowed 176 people per day, but currently only 140 people are accepted daily (70 each for Xiangyang Mountain Hut and Jiaming Lake Mountain Hut) due to ongoing preparations at the Jiaming Lake mountain hut campsite.
◎ Mountain Hut Fees:
