Taiwan’s First LINE-Themed Rice Field in Penglai County – Say Hello to Brown and Cony!

Colorful rice is a variety developed through years of research by agricultural experiment stations using chemical mutagenesis, changing the traditional green color of rice leaves. When used in large-scale art, it can invigorate local leisure industries and boost economic benefits. For this event, Pingtung County Government acquired the licensed technique to paint rice paddies with four colors—purple, white, gold, and green—creating a colorful rice field featuring LINE characters. By integrating nearly 10 specialized techniques, the imagery achieves a three-dimensional effect. Visitors will be able to see LINE FRIENDS characters such as Brown, Sally, Cony, and James emerging from the sea of rice.
