Aside from the growing number of Japanese ramen shops setting up in Taiwan, there's also been an increase in Japanese udon restaurants. Tsuru-koshi Udon, which was established in 2010 in Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo, has multiple branches in Japan and Singapore, and opened its first Taiwanese outlet in April at the Food Court of CTBC Financial Park. The udon spot preserves traditional Kansai flavors, using different broths for various tastes and types, and has specially developed a ginger-flavored udon tailored for female diners this time. Prices for udon range from NT$69 to NT$179, while tempura is available starting at NT$15, and the restaurant adopts a self-service dining style.

Tsuru-koshi Udon was founded in 2010 in Tokyo’s Nishi-Shinjuku and has since expanded overseas. In 2015, it partnered with the Dacheng Group to open its first branch in Taiwan.

Traditional udon broth is usually based on kelp and bonito stock, but at Tsuru-koshi, hot udon, cold udon, and tsukemen (dipping udon) use varying intensities of kelp and bonito broth, enhanced with unique dried fish flavors. There's even a special "ginger-flavored udon" designed for women prone to cold hands and feet; creamy options like "butter shrimp udon" and "kama-age tamago udon," plus savory pork minced topping seasoned with Japanese sauce and Chinese doubanjiang — the "dan-dan udon" is definitely a must-try delight.

In addition, the indispensable "tempura" served with udon is made to order and uses specialized tempura flour, resulting in crispy exteriors and fluffy interiors. Options include shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura platters, and chicken tempura, all starting at NT$15. Udon prices range from NT$69 to NT$179, and the restaurant follows a self-service format. Until April 3, the first 20 customers each day can enjoy Tsuru-koshi’s signature set meal for free, which includes kama-age hot spring egg udon and shrimp & vegetable tempura.
