Wild mountain lilies blanket the hills in springtime glory—Northern Coast seas of flowers at their most stunning

With spring’s arrival, the hillsides of the Northern Coast are adorned with white trumpets heralding the symphony of the season. Every year from April to May, the cliffside lilies between Shimen and Jinshan along the Northern Coast burst into bloom, with vast expanses of Taiwan’s native white lilies covering the mountains, their sweet fragrance wafting through the air. Paired with the azure sea views and the Fugui Cape Lighthouse, the sweeping landscape is a feast for the soul.

To highlight the unique charm of the local landscape, the Northern Coast National Scenic Area Administration has been actively restoring Taiwan’s native lilies in the Shimen-Jinshan area over the past decade, with the flowers reaching their peak beauty every April and May. Generally, there are two ideal times to admire wild lilies along the Northern Coast: before the end of May, visitors are advised to head to Shimen’s Baisha Bay, Lingshanbi, and the Fugui Cape Lighthouse Trail, while after May, the Lion Head Mountain, Shuiwei, and Dharma Drum Mountain areas in Jinshan are recommended.
