Kaohsiung’s Qishan District’s centennial Gu Shan Park has been fully renovated and reopened. Mayor Chen Chu personally unveiled the park’s new look to mark its rebirth. Blessed with beautiful scenery and a wealth of historical culture and tourism appeal, the city government will continue to promote infrastructure and tourism development, accelerate local flood control efforts, and further enhance the charm of this century-old banana city.

Covering an area of 31 hectares, Gu Shan Park features a beautiful setting and lush forests, making it a historic scenic spot in Qishan with a century-long legacy. Years of neglect had left the park overgrown and disorganized. After three years of revitalization efforts, the municipal government has completed a comprehensive renovation project, bringing back its century-old splendor. The park retains many precious heritage sites. Over the course of the three-year redevelopment plan, in addition to upgrading internal facilities, landscaping efforts were also carried out — including the planting of around 90,000 flowering plants such as bougainvillea, hibiscus, and firecracker vines — creating a vibrant sea of blossoms that allows visitors to stroll leisurely and enjoy the outdoors in comfort.
