Purple wind chimes bloom across the golden-yellow mountain slopes

With summer’s arrival, foxgloves burst into bloom everywhere, and throughout the Daxue Mountain National Forest Recreation Area, the fields are covered with foxgloves that look like purple wind chimes dotting the hillsides. Their bell-like blossoms sway gently in the mountain mist and breeze, playing the melodies of nature.

The Daxue Mountain Forest Recreation Area is located southwest of the Snow Mountain Range and was one of the most important early forestry sites in central Taiwan. The forest boasts rich ecological diversity. In spring, main forest roads and trails are adorned with mountain pepper, azaleas, and Formosan cherry blossoms, creating a refreshing atmosphere. From May to July, visitors can enjoy seas of bell-shaped foxgloves in bloom. Due to their strong reproductive ability and adaptability, foxgloves have become one of the common landscape plants in mid-to-high altitude mountainous areas, with their vibrant blooms standing out brilliantly against the woods. However, it’s important to note that all parts of the foxglove plant are toxic, so they should be admired from a distance and not picked.
