The lotuses planted in Erchong Lotus Park and Phase III Artificial Wetland of Xinhai are perennial emergent aquatic plants that grow in mud, with large leaves and upright stems. In summer, they bloom in light red, yellow, light purple, or white. Because they can thrive in poor water quality environments, artificial wetlands can use them to help purify water. When the lotuses are in full bloom, the ponds also attract amphibians and various wild birds. The chorus of frogs and birdsong celebrates the arrival of midsummer, and visitors can enjoy not only the flowers but also a musical feast.
