Nestled in Zhushan Township, Nantou County, the homestay “The Courtyard in the Sky” boasts a simple and unadorned exterior that preserves the rustic allure of a traditional rural three-sided courtyard building. Secluded and tucked away by the side of Daran Mountain in Zhushan Township, it stands as an independent compound, surrounded by greenery with no disturbances—only the sounds of chirping birds and buzzing insects—like a hidden paradise.

Situated 800 meters above sea level, The Courtyard in the Sky is an independent compound overlooking the forested mountains, allowing lush greenery to embrace it from all sides. With a century-old ambiance, it feels like a story-telling elder quietly watching over the visitors who come and go. Years ago, while hiking, the inn’s owner passed by this abandoned old Zhang family house and was deeply moved by the simple beauty of this well-preserved traditional home. Years later, upon returning, he was determined to renovate the dilapidated property.
