There are truly expansive platforms here! Taiwan has recently seen a surge in “ruins tourism,” and rather than flocking to overcrowded tourist spots, many people have started seeking out hidden gems on their own, sparking a wave of adventurous spirit as more explore abandoned sites.Located near the intersection of Taiwan Provincial Highway 1B and National Freeway 61 in Changhua, Changbin Ruins has captured widespread attention with its massive abandoned factory buildings standing at a key transportation junction, making it one of the emerging hotspots for ruins exploration.

Dubbed by netizens, the former Changbin Ruins was actually a large textile factory called “Qiaofang.” Established in 1990 after its founder invested 1 billion NTD to build it, the factory initially thrived—but due to alleged wastewater discharge that sparked protests from residents, the government ordered it to shut down after operating for less than two years. Although there were attempts to reopen later, operations ceased again shortly thereafter, and the factory has remained abandoned ever since.

The enormous factory building stands at a busy transportation hub, and even though overgrown with weeds, it hasn’t deterred netizens’ curiosity to explore. Inside Changbin Ruins, you’ll find scattered large iron drums that exude a strong industrial vibe, becoming a popular backdrop for photos. However, be warned: due to the age of the site, the potential hazards of any remaining materials are unknown, so exercise caution when taking pictures.

Changbin Ruins is located near Hemei Township, known as the “Hometown of Weavers.” In Taiwan’s early days, the region’s textile industry achieved remarkable feats and contributed significantly to the economy. Even today, remnants of the machinery used back then can still be seen inside the factory, and the marks where machines once stood remain visible on the ground. It’s just a pity that those glory days are gone—such a thriving place has now become completely desolate.

Although the vast factory no longer enjoys its former prosperity, its current exterior and interior layout still offer a glimpse into what work life was like here decades ago. Please be advised that the factory interior is now sealed off. Having been abandoned for a long time, it has also become a gathering spot for stray dogs. If you plan to visit, please exercise extreme caution, stay safe, and avoid any potential dangers.
