Soaking in hot springs is one of the favorite travel activities among locals, especially during winter when cold fronts hit—many tourists choose to soak in hot springs to stay warm in the chilly weather. Taiwan is a world-renowned hot spring destination, blessed with a unique geographical location, offering diverse types of springs such as cold springs, hot springs, muddy springs, and submarine springs, giving travelers plenty of choices.

1. Taipei - Beitou Hot Spring Area, Yangmingshan Hot Spring Area, Shanmao Mountain Hot Spring Area
Beitou Hot Springs has been famous since the Japanese colonial era, and it’s no surprise that the Japanese, who love soaking in hot springs, couldn’t miss it. It’s said to be highly effective for skin diseases, nerve sensitivity, asthma, rheumatism, and more, making it one of the most famous hot spring destinations in northern Taiwan.

2. New Taipei - Wulai Hot Spring Area, Jinshan-Wanli Hot Spring Area

Jinshan Hot Springs is adjacent to the North Coast and shares the same thermal source as the Yangmingshan Hot Spring Area, belonging to the Tatun Volcanic Geothermal Belt. It is the northernmost hot spring area in Taiwan, with slightly acidic water quality. It’s a type of spring suitable for both bathing and drinking. The water quality of Jinshan Hot Springs is particularly suitable for those with sensitive skin.

Jiaoxi Hot Springs is a sodium bicarbonate spring, clear and odorless. After soaking, your skin becomes smooth, soft, and non-greasy. Su’ao features both cold springs and the so-called "beauty spring," a sodium bicarbonate hot spring.
