Located in Taipei’s Ximending, the nearly 70-year-old “Snow King Ice Cream” has reportedly ceased operations due to lease expiration, with current reports indicating the store will only remain open until July 20. The shop is now looking for a new location to continue serving its delicious treats.

The time-honored Snow King Ice Cream has been in business since 1947, boasting a history of 68 years. Over the years, the owner has developed over 70 different ice cream flavors, ranking it among the top in Taiwan. Most notably, Snow King breaks the conventional image of ice cream by offering many unexpectedly savory and liquor-flavored options, including sesame oil chicken, basil, pig’s trotter, brandy, and kaoliang. The owner insists on using authentic ingredients and making and selling the ice cream themselves. Though slightly pricier than regular ice cream, these unique and delicious flavors remain a favorite among locals and adventurous foodies. It has been reported that Snow King Ice Cream will cease operations at its current location on July 20 due to lease expiration, and the shop is actively searching for a new spot to continue serving its beloved treats.

The new location of Snow King Ice Cream has been announced. It will reopen on the second floor of the original address on October 8, with adjusted business hours from 12 noon to 8 pm.
