Essential for the handyman type of person (or just fun)! Tainan’s hidden edition of shaped sponge cakes — featuring a screwdriver?

What other special shapes can a sponge cake have? Tainan never ceases to surprise. Following last year’s super-popular cat-paw sponge cake, there’s now a worker-themed “tool-shaped sponge cake” — adorable wrenches, hammers, and even screwdrivers. A set of five tools lets you easily jump into the trade and transform into an ultra-cute little worker.

Located on Jinhua Road in Tainan, the Handyman Sponge Cake began trial operations at the end of December last year. With its adorable tool-shaped sponge cakes, it has slowly built a reputation in Tainan. The owner jokingly refers to himself as the foreman, selling tool-shaped sponge cakes — one set of five, with each pack containing a screwdriver, wrench, saw, iron hammer, and hex key, giving you a full set of tools in one go.

The texture of the Handyman Sponge Cake follows the crispy crust sponge cake style, offering a delightfully crunchy bite. It’s sold daily from 11:00 AM to 5:45 PM (until sold out), with a daily limit of 100 portions. In just over two months since opening, it has gradually gained recognition in the Tainan area, experiencing a taste of sudden popularity and becoming the latest must-queue food item.

Hoping to accommodate all fans of the tool-shaped sponge cakes, the shop announced yesterday on its fan page that, to prevent valued customers traveling from afar from waiting too long, there is now a purchase limit of three per person.
